Potts Fowler Ltd was formed following the merger of two Christchurch
based companies Miles, Fowler & Fear Ltd and Glasson
Potts Group Ltd in December 2000. Miles, Fowler & Fear Ltd
was formed in 1955 and has provided subdivisional and land development
services to clients in the residential, industrial and rural sectors
in the Canterbury area.
We have built a reputation of having a strong technical base
from which to provide a quality service to meet our client’s
needs. A large proportion of our work is in the rural area and
our staff
are well versed in dealing with the challenges this brings (stock,
distance, terrain, people, etc).
The survey team comprises 10 full time staff and uses the latest
technology including Trimble GPS, total stations, data recorders,
survey and draughting software to complete its survey tasks. We
have an excellent track record in consulting for private industry,
local and regional authorities and government departments.

Recent Projects:
Ascot Park – Kirwee: This rural-residential development
involved providing design, planning, engineering and surveying
services
for this 59 lot subdivision. Thirty-nine lots have been developed
with the balance expected to be available late in 2005.
Project Aqua – Low Flow Trial: GPF were the principal survey
consultant involved in the Project Aqua Low Flow Trial. GPF’s
survey responsibilities included:
- Establishing a horizontal and vertical control network
so that all levels and positions along the project length
could be tied
into the same datum.
- Providing a GPS reference station for an Airborne
Laser Scanning survey to produce a DTM of the Waitaki
River bed and proposed canal
alignment.
- Ground control for aerial photography undertaken
by Precision Aerial Surveys Ltd of the Waitaki River
bed and proposed canal alignment.
- Location of some 100 peisometers, wells and irrigation
water race levels scattered throughout the extent of
the project
- Survey support and control for “in-river” survey
teams completing river cross-sections.
- Survey support and control for a bathymetric (echo
sounding) survey on the Waitaki River.
- Various detailed site surveys for engineering design.
- Setout of proposed canal water levels at the proposed
power stations.
Sisters of Nazareth Industrial Subdivision: 30 lot industrial development
of some 16 hectares in Wigram Road, Christchurch. Services included
subdivision consent, discharge consent, engineering design and
approval, contract supervision and administration, land transfer
surveying, final compliance reporting and obtaining council certifications.
Waitikiri Drive Residential Subdivision: 21 lot residential development
in Waitikiri Drive, Christchurch. Services included subdivision
consent, discharge approval, engineering design and approval, contract
supervision and administration, land transfer surveying, final
compliance reporting and obtaining council certifications.
Wigram Road Industrial Park: Some 43 industrial lots have been
created fronting Wigram Road between Treffers Road and Hayton Road.
Services provided to the development have included design, engineering
design and supervision, and surveying services.
Riverlea Estate Incorporated: This subdivision involved the creation
of some 80 lots within an existing settlement adjacent to Waimakariri
River. Services provided included obtaining resource consent, surveying
and design and supervision of upgraded utility services.
